The projects selected for the 20th Ex Oriente Film workshop

The Ex Oriente Film workshop has announced the 12 creative documentaries that will be participating in its 20th edition. Organised by the Institute of Documentary Film, the three-module workshop is a training programme focused on the development and funding of creative documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe that are in development or at the early production stage. The team of experienced tutors will help workshop participants with the development of their projects.

The producers and directors of the 12 selected projects will participate in the three week-long workshops set to be held over the next nine months. The first session, focusing on “Find Your Way – Vision, Space and Storytelling”, will be held in La Rochelle, from 17-22 June, in cooperation with Sunny Side of the Doc. The second session, which will explore production and story development, will unspool, as usual, at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival from 24-28 October. The third and final workshop will run from 24-30 March next year in Prague, at the East Doc Forum, within the East Doc Platform, which runs in parallel with the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

The leading tutors involved in the first 2022 Ex Oriente Film workshop are documentary expert Mikael Opstrup, consultant and producer Iikka Vehkalahti, director and script editor Ivana Pauerová Miloševičová, and director-producer Filip Remunda. Among the guest tutors are director Marc Isaacs, producer Heidi Fleisher, director-producer Aliona van der Horst, director and actress Nino Kirtadzé, and sales agents Aleksandar Govedarica and Samuel Joyce.
