After two years of the pandemic, 12 Punto, Turkey’s largest script development and co-production platform, which is organised by TRT Cinema, is returning in a physical format and welcoming filmmakers from 16 different countries to Istanbul. For its fourth edition, unspooling from 19-26 June, 12 Punto features physical meetings and events, online live broadcasts and 12 Punto Special Programs, which will be broadcast on TRT2. The programme will be hosted on three different platforms with the participation of directors, producers and film-industry professionals, while 12 projects have been selected for the feature-film section.

Regarding the jury of this edition, it features acclaimed Palestinian director Elia Suleiman; executive director of Eurimages Susan Newman-Baudais; producer Philippe Bober, who was the co-producer of Triangle of Sadness [+see also:

by Ruben Östlund, among other films; Jovan Marjanović, of the Sarajevo Film Festival; and Venice Film Festival programmer Paolo Bertolin. The five-member jury will be tasked with handing out the TRT Co-Production Awards, while three projects will receive pre-buy awards. The TRT Project Development Award will be given to six projects, and encompasses development, pre-shooting, financial planning, international co-production processes and associated studies. Furthermore, for the first time, the TRT Short Film Production Award will be given out. Also, the TRT International Co-Production Award supports international projects with Turkish partners on board, and all of the winners will be announced at the 12 Punto closing ceremony.

This year, a boutique co-production market is also being launched, called 12 Punto Meetings. The directors and producers of the 12 feature-length projects that have made it to the finals will meet representatives of the most important institutions in the film industry, managers of industry sections at festivals, and producers. Among the guests are the general manager of the Cannes Film Festival’s Cinéfondation, Georges Goldenstern; chairman of the European Film Academy and producer Mike Downey; Yassine Ouahrani, from the Doha Film Institute; Sarajevo Film Festival executive Armin Hadžić; head of Sofia Meetings Mira Staleva; producer Catherine Dussart; producer and project consultant Katriel Schory; and marketing consultant Alvaro Vega.

In total, over 130 projects applied for this edition of 12 Punto, and those selected will be tutored by script consultants Marietta von Hausswolff, Eva Svenstedt Ward and Laura Piani as well as marketing and pitching expert Stefano Tealdi.
