Submissions are now open for the fifth edition of the CEE Animation Workshop, a year-long training programme for developing projects and enhancing skills, where filmmakers in the field of animation from all MEDIA countries will be guided by renowned producers and animation script consultants.

The workshop is tailor-made to suit the needs of producers and their creative teams who have animated projects of any format in development, while also being open to a limited number of producers without projects seeking to build a long-term strategy for their company.

Led by acclaimed industry professionals who will closely follow and mentor all kinds of projects (encompassing shorts, TV, feature-length, hybrid and XR), the participants will be given a chance to advance their scripts, train in the art of pitching, get access to inspirational lectures and deepen their knowledge of various topics related to animation production.

The 2023 edition of the CEE Animation Workshop will consist of four modules. Two of them will take place online and another two will be held on site, starting with Ljubljana in February 2023 and the third taking place in Bratislava in August 2023. The workshop will finish with the final presentation and a pitch to a carefully selected group of industry players. After the completion of the workshop, participants will be able to take advantage of the CEE Animation network and gain privileged access to various industry and market events in the EU.

“We are excited to start the fifth edition by building on great experiences and strong foundations from the last four years of training, and also by bringing in some fresh new features. We are looking forward to welcoming established producers Tonje Skar Reiersen and Corinne Destombes as the main group leaders in the team, and to balancing the online and on-site modules, with two on-site weeks in 2023,” says Saša Bach, the managing director of the CEE Animation Workshop.

Besides the aforementioned producers Tonje Skar Reiersen, of Norway's Mikrofilm, and Corinne Destombes, of France's Folimage, the groups will also be led by script consultants and well-known CEE Animation Workshop collaborators Phil Parker (UK) and Rita Domonyi (Hungary).

The deadline for submissions is 24 October 2022. More details about the call can be found here, the regulations are online here, and the submission form can be filled in here.
