12/06/2002 - Pascal Morelli´s animated feature, Corto Maltese in Siberia, based on a story by Hugo Pratt, was presented today in Paris

Paris audiences reserved a very warm welcome for the latest animated feature by veteran director, Pascal Morelli. Corto Maltese in Siberia stars the gentleman-sailor invented by celebrated Italian cartoonist Hugo Pratt. Work began on this Franco-Italian co-production in 1999 and involved it Robert Réa for Ellipsanime, France 2, Studio Canal and Italy´s Rai Cinema. The action adventure takes place against a backdrop of the Chinese Civil war of 1919 with Corto Maltese meeting characters as disparate as Rasputin, and White Russian General Von Ungem-Sternberg.
