Delvaux, a maestro of cinema

To mark the first anniversary of the death of André Delvaux, the faculty of Literature and Philosophy at the Libera University in Brussels (ULB) has decided to pay tribute to the Belgium filmmaker by organising an international conference on November 14 and 15 . The event will be a chance to explore the many facets in the films by one of the great exponents of magic realism.

André Delvaux is "a crucial author for Europe" explained Adolphe Nysenholc, the organiser of the conference. "He is a very representative director in the sphere of magic realism, where he found a very personal approach, between neo-realism and expressionism"

André Delvaux was a graduate of ULB and the co-founder of INSAS in Brussels, and he was also one of the pioneers of film training in Belgium. The conference dedicated to him will concentrate on six themes: "The pioneer", "Music", "Beyond the border", "Continuity", "Magic Realism" and "Complete Art".
