The Kimolos International Film Festival, now in its fifth consecutive year, is set to take place on the picturesque Cycladic island of Kimolos from 25-29 June. A diverse range of feature films will be showcased at various locations across the island.

In the official competition of the Kimolos IFF, six films will participate, all of which will have their Greek premieres at the event. Furthermore, some of these movies will also have their European, international or even world premieres during the festival. The selection of films has been carefully curated by Manuel de Coco, the festival's artistic director. These films will be competing for the prestigious Golden Tree and Best Director Awards.

Among them is Between Earth and Water, the latest creation by Karlos Alastruey, a Basque and Bahá'í filmmaker, which will have its world premiere on Kimolos. Additionally, Happy Sandwich from Japan, directed by Tsukasa Kishimoto, and Greece or Chicken on the Run from Austria, directed by Claudia Jüptner-Jonstorff and Eva Spreitzhofer, which was filmed amidst the landscapes of Kimolos and the nearby island of Milos, will enjoy their international premieres.

Furthermore, the selection includes The Great Distance Delivers Crane from Tibet, directed by Lhapal Gyal, and How (China), directed by Liu Teng, which will have its European premiere on Kimolos.

This year, the Kimolos International Film Festival is introducing a new section called "Discovery Greek Cinema", dedicated entirely to Greek film. Three movies have been selected to compete for the Discovery Prize. The line-up includes the short documentary The Last Hunt by Charalambos Giannakakis, the short fiction film Nothing Holier than a Dolphin by Isabella Margara and the documentary The Every Man / Woman by Giorgos Loukas, which will have its world premiere at the festival.

A distinguished four-member jury, led by renowned Greek distributor Zinos Panagiotidis (Rosebud.21), will be responsible for awarding the prizes. The other members of the jury include Iliana Zakopoulou from Hellas Film, of the Greek Film Centre, Greek film producer Katia Pantazi and Filio Louvari, director of the From the Sea Festival.

The Kimolos International Film Festival is organised by Glory Films in partnership with the Region of South Aegean, and with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization, the Municipality of Kimolos, ERT SA, the Greek Film Centre and the General Secretariat of the Aegean & Island Policy.
