The actor, Bert Dijkstra, dies

The Dutch actor, Bert Dijkstra, died last night at the age of 83. He was born on April 11, 1920 in Tandjong Balei, an old Dutch colony in the Indies, before he soon moved to Holland. From 1958 he was the director of the radio comedy department of AVRO and Bert Dijkstra became famous especially for his parts in 2 TV series: Swiebertje by Henk Veenstra in which he starred from 1972 to 1975 and De Bereboot by Lex Richters and Jan Pieter Borkus, where he played the part of Captain Brom (1976-1978). Dijkstra was considered to be a talented actor and he also starred in films directed by Paul Verhoeven like Turkish Delight, De Peetmoeder (1977) and Survival Run (1979), as well as in Doctor Vlimmen by Guido Pieters (1979), while also following his passion for acting in the theatre.
