New project for Byron Murphy

The writer/producer of the award winning film, Song For a Raggy Boy, Kevin Byron-Murphy, is going to make a new film, starring Lauren Bacall, Sir Ian Holm, Alan Bates, and Joanna Gleason (Crimes and Misdemeanours).

Filming on Wide Blue Yonder will start in Ireland early in 2004. It is written by Hugh James and directed by Robert Young and tells the story of Wally, who has 48 hours to find the cash, the corpse, the boat, organise a burial at sea and escape almost certain incarceration – all done from the comfort of a retirement home!

The film is produced by Kevin Byron-Murphy and his wife Rachel Downey for Titian Red Pictures. Song For a Raggy Boy, which Kevin Byron-Murphy co-wrote with Patrick Galvin and the director, Aisling Walsh, is currently on release in Ireland. The Irish/UK/Danish/Spanish co-production between Subotica, Zoma Films, Moviefan and Lola Films is distributed by Abbey Films. It has grossed over $567,679 in three weeks from 36 screens.
