Axelle Red moves into acting
The Belgium singer, Axelle Red, is moving into the world of cinema under the guidance of the Flemish director, Rudolf Mestdagh. After making many short films, (Chicken-Pot-Pie, Robochick, Whew!, Over the rainbow and Beauville), Rudolph Mestdagh has just finished work on his first feature length drama, Ellektra. It is produced by his company (Cosmo Kino) and by Jacques-Henri Bronckart (Versus Production).
Ellektra features a series of characters who appear to have nothing in common. But when their lives are shaken by a terrible chain of events, they all seek consolation from Ellektra. And so their paths cross. Axelle Red plays Anne, a pianist. Her scenes were shot in the Gand Opéra. The film also stars Julien and Matthias Schoenaerts, the first time this father and son have appeared together on the big screen, as well as Gert Portael, Sam Bogaerts, Lucas Van Ammel, Catherine Kools and Manou Kersting. And Axelle Red is not finished with her foray into the world of the image: she has just finished shooting on a music video for her single Toujours, which she has also written as well as performing.
