The winner of the Berna canton’s Cinema Prize 2003 (worth €12,900), November by Luki Frieden has been nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize, which will be taking place in Saarbrücken in January.
Eleven year old Yvonne Brunner is on holiday in Beatenberg and she is dreaming of America. Round about the time of Halloween her mother wins €1.79 million on the lottery, such a huge sum of money that the family tensions will get completely out of hand.
The film was released in Swiss German cinemas on November 6, and the cast includes Charlotte Heinimann, Max Rüdlinger, Muriel Rieben, Elias Arens and Martin Rapold. It is the first feature length film for this author who already has two short films under her belt, Confused Kind (1995) and Guardian Angel (1997).
