Becker wins over von Trier

won out at the European Film Awards in Berlin this weekend, coming away with three major prizes, including Best Film and Best Actor (Daniel Brühl). The film directed by Wolfgang Becker also won the European Oscar for Best Screenplay, written by Bernd Lichtenberg.

But Lars von Trier's film Dogville [+see also:

also fared well. The filmmaker came away with the European Film Award for Best Director, with Dogville's director of photography, Anthony Dod Mantle being awarded for his work with von Trier as well as for 28 Days Later.

There was disappointment for the British director, Stephen Frears, whose Dirty Pretty Things [+see also:

was nominated in 4 categories but left the award ceremony empty handed.
