film profile], the directorial duo composed of Giuseppe G Stasi and Giancarlo Fontana are back on set shooting a film falling midway between tragedy and comedy. Filming on La casa in fiamme kicked off a few days ago and will continue for approximately six weeks between Calabria and Rome. 

The protagonists of this film written by Renato Sannio in league with Giuseppe G Stasi are Margherita Buy (one the most decorated actresses in Italian film, with 17 nominations and 7 victories at the David di Donatello Awards - most recently via My Mother [+see also:

The film takes place over the space of a weekend in what was once home for a now divided and no longer happy family who must come to terms with reality. The context is the sale of their seaside villa, but their forced cohabitation – as parents, children, grandchildren and spouses – uncovers old wounds which have never fully healed. It’s only as a result of tragicomic events that they end up revealing feelings and truths which have never previously come to light. According to the production team’s statement: “La casa in fiamme uses humour to explore the contradictions of an imperfect family who are always hovering between resentment and hope for reconciliation”.

The film is being produced by Sonia Rovai and Claudio Falconi for Wildside, by Ariens Damsi for Eliofilm and by Massimiliano Orfei, Luisa Borella and Davide Novelli for PiperFilm, with the latter also distributing the film in Italian cinemas. PiperPlay will handle world sales.
