New Deal for Sandrew Metronome

The Scandinavian major, Sandrew Metronome has just signed an output deal with Finnish production company Blind Spot Pictures. This agreement will give the Scandinavian company’s Finnish distribution arm Scandinavian rights to Blind Spot’s current and upcoming films over the next three years.

Established in 1997 and headed by Tero Kaukomaa and Petri Jokiranta, Blind Spot Pictures was the co-producer of Lars von Trier’s Dance In The Dark and it currently produces around two feature films a year. Previous productions include Geography of Fear, Cyclomania, Eila by Jarmo Lampela and the first Kung Fu film, The Jade Warrior by upcoming talent, AJ Annila.

Currently in post-production is Aleksi Salmenpera’s €1.2m Producing Adults. The comedy tells the story of a woman psychologist working in an infertility clinic who decides to have a baby without telling her husband. The Finnish release is set for September 2004.

Sandrew Metronome is one of the biggest distributors in Finland, releasing its own productions as well as Warner Bros titles, through a deal with the US major for theatrical and video distribution. The Scandinavian major also owns 21 cinemas in Finland.
