film profile], Maria Simon, has won the prize as Best Actress as part of the German "Shooting stars" prizes for 2004. Simon, who was also acclaimed for her performance in Lichter by Hans-Christian Schmidt at the last Berlin Film Festival, can also be seen on the big screen starring alongside Ralph Fiennes in Luther. The prize for Best Debut Actor went to Daniel Brühl, Simon's co-star in the film by Wolfgang Becker.

At the 54th edition of the Berlinale (February 5-15, 2004), EFP (European Film Promotion) will be presenting the best new European acting talents for the 7th time, with prizes being given to the emerging new faces that have won awards in their home countries and who have also shot onto the international stage thanks to their big film successes. The prize giving ceremony for the Shooting Stars Award will be taking place at the Studio Hamburg for the first time, in collaboration with Studio Hamburg Peoduktion. The awards will be handed over by the director of the Berlinale Festival, Dieter Kosslick.
