London Film Critics' Awards

The shortlist for the films in the running for the 24th edition of the London Film Critics Awards (LFCA) have just been announced. The event is being held at London’s Dorchester Hotel on February 11th.

Young Adam received the most nominations (6) in the Best Film, British Director of the year, British Newcomer, British Screenwriter, British Actress in a Supporting Role, and British Actress of the year categories. In the main section for Best Film, Young Adam will be competing against The Hours (5 nominations in total), The Magdalene Sisters [+see also:

Stephen Daldry’s The Hours will also run for the Best Film of the year against Master and Commander, Far From Heaven, Mystic River and Lord Of The Rings.

Five contenders have been selected in the Foreign film category: the French documentary To Be and To Have and feature film Swimming Pool [+see also:

The LFCA charity event is held annually by film critics all over the UK.
