FILM COMMISSIONS Spain

The future in Malaga

by

The first conference organissed by the Spanish Film Commission will be held in Malaga, tomorrow, December 18. This is will be the first time that all the heads of the national Spanish Film Commission network will have a chance to meet up.

There’ll be an analysis of the achievements over the last year as well as a fresh look at the objectives of the 21 agencies in charge of national film promotion. The event will also be attended by some of the top representatives from the Film Commissions in France, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium. In fact, the discussions at the conference will be centred around the approval of the “Declaration of Malaga”, which aims to unite the 170 Film Commissions from 17 European countries under the auspices of a single agency. The main objective of the Declaration will be to create a united front for the preparation of new support funds, the coordination and preparation of a more rigorous training policy for the European network, and to start wider studies into the economic impact of filmmaking on European territory, as well as ensuring the European FCs will sign up to a more concrete intention to promote their availablity for international productions.
