Crisis at the Venice Biennale
The President of the Venice Biennale, Franco Bernabè, has cancelled the board of management meeting that was planned for December 22. The discussions were due to include a vote on the future of Moritz de Hadeln at the helm of the Venice Film Festival. The Italian minister of Culture, Giuliano Urbani, has called for new legislation to modify and reform the Venetian institution. And this change would mean that the Biennale's board of management could lose its authority to make decisions. The committee will be meeting again in January, before the reform is approved.
