As a tribute to the great tradition of documentary making that Finland shares with Switzerland, the Helsinki Festival of documentary films, Doc Point, (January 15-18, 2004) is putting on a programme of Swiss productions, as well as a section featuring the best documentaries presented at the Visions du Réel international film festival in Nyon. There'll be a chance to see War Photographer by Christian Frei (nominated for the 2002 Oscars ), Bali Film and Gambling, Gods and LSD (Grand Prize at Visions du Réel 2002) by Peter Mettler, Tarifa Traffic by Joakim Demmer and L’arrivée, Le combat and La vente by Fernand Melgar. The programme has been put together by Jean Perret, the director of Visions du Réel, and it will also feature an atelier with filmmakers, Christian Frei and Peter Mettler. There will also be a meeting for Finnish and Swiss producers, carrying on the work started in April 2003 in Nyon. These exchanges are set to continue in 2004, with the selection of Finnish films expected to take part in the next edition of Visions du Réel.
