7 Jussi nominations for Producing Adults

The Finnish film running for a Best foreign film Oscar has gathered the most nominations (7) for the annual Finnish ‘Jussi’ film awards to be held next February 6th. Producing Adults, the directorial debut of Aleksi Salmenperä will compete among others for Best film, Best director, Best actress (Minnna Haapkylä), Best supporting actress (Minttu Mustakallio) and Best script (Pekko Pesoren) it was announced this week.
Produced by Blind Spot Pictures, the film has already been sold by Celluloid Dreams to over 20 territories, including the US where Wolfe Releasing will release it next December. The film is a bittersweet comedy about reproduction and the battle between the sexes.

Two other films will compete for Best Finnish film of the year:Dog Nail Clipperby Markku Pölönen (nominated 6 times) and Pelicanman by Liisa Helminen (5 nominations). Helminen’s family film sold internationally by Swedish-based Non Stop Sales is still doing well at the Finnish box office with 58,409 admissions in just over a month.
Pekka Mandart’s Harbour Brothers is another local hit (75,651 admissions in 3 weeks) that has gathered four nominations for the Jussi awards including Best actor in a supporting role (Petteri Summaren) and Best actress in a supporting role (Minttu Mustakallio).
