IndieLisboa, seven Europeans in Competition

Only seven months after its first edition, the IndieLisboa – International Independent Film Festival is officially back to the Portuguese capital until the 1st of May. The festival opened last night with Born into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids, Oscar 2005 for the Best Documentary. In the programme 130 productions, including feature films, short films and documentaries.

Seven of the eleven feature films in Competition are European productions. Like it happened in their home country, two Belgian films promise to divide the audiences: the politically incorrect Aaltra written, performed and directed by Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kerkvern, and Folie Privée by Joachim Lafosse, a modern variation on Medea, the tragedy of Euripides. Italian cinema is represented by Le Conseguenze dell'Amore directed by Paolo Sorrentino and Private, Saverio Constanzo's film that won of the Golden Leopard in the 2004 edition of the Locarno Film Festival. Ono by polish director Malgosia Szumowska will also be screened in Lisbon, after Sundance and Berlin (Panorama). The European menu also includes Marem Ade's The Forrest for the tress (Germany) and Roni e Shlomi Elkabet's To Take a Wife (France).
In the section Observatory, the program includes two French productions, A Tout de Suite by Benoît Jacquot and Le Pont des Arts by Eugène Green, besides A Hole in my heart by Lukas Moodyson (Sweden), Ken Loach's Ae Fond Kiss [+see also:

(UK) and the only Portuguese feature film of the Festival Adriana, the forth film by Margarida Gil starring Ana Moreira and Isabel Ruth.
The Thai and French coproduction Tropical Malady by Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Pawel Pawlikowski's My Summer of love [+see also:
