Match point for BBC Films

Woody Allen’s Match Point, screening out of competition in Cannes on 12 May, is part of BBC Films’ eclectic slate of co-productions that will be unveiled at this year’s Cannes Festival and market. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Emily Mortimer and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Match Point is the first Woody Allen film to be shot in the UK.
Six other BBC Films currently in post-production will be discussed in Cannes: -Michael Winterbottom’s A Cock & Bull Story based on the novel Tristram Shandy starring Steve Coogan, Ian Hart and Gillian Anderson; Michael Caton-Jones’ drama Shooting Dogs set against the Rwandan genocide; Peter Cattaneo’s Dingan set in Australia; Oliver Parker’s romantic comedy Click co-produced in Germany by X-Filme, Stephen Frears’ Mrs Henderson Presents starring Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins; finally Debbie Isitt’s comedy Confetti starring Martin Freeman and Jessica Stevenson.

Three other BBC Films are on general release in certain territories: Bullet Boy, a provocative look at gun crime in inner-city London has grossed £350,000 in the UK; Danny Boyle’s comedy Millions has taken almost $3m in the US so far and will open in the UK on 10 June, and the multi-awarded My Summer of Love by Pawel Pawlikowski will be released in the US on 17 June.
As for Marc Evans’ Snow Cake starring Sigourney Weaver and Carrie-Anne Moss, the UK/Canadian co-production is still shooting in Canada.
