Aku Louhimies’ local hit Frozen Land (Paha maa) screening in the market in Cannes, has been chosen to compete at the upcoming Moscow International Film Festival (17-26 June 2005). The film produced by Markus Selin for Solar Films, is a realistic depiction of today’s Finland told through a series of stories not always linked to each other in a chronological order. In the lead roles are Jasper Pääkkönen, Mikko Leppilampi and Sulevi Peltola.
This is the third feature film directed by Louhimies following Restless (2001) and Lovers & Leavers (2002). Released in Finland through Buena Vista last January, the film is so far the biggest local hit with over 168,600 admissions.
Frozen Land is sold internationally by Birch Tree Entertainment and there will be three screenings of the film in Cannes on Saturday May 14, Wednesday May 18 and Thursday May 19.
