The Works' favourite Best Man

The most popular title on The Works' Cannes line-up was the romantic film The Best Man directed by Stefan Schwartz, starring Amy Smart and Stuart Townsend. According to Joy Wong, Head of international sales, the film was sold to Italian International Film (IIF) for Italy, CCV (Scandinavia), Switzerland (Ascot Elite Entertainment) as well as to Hungary, the Czech Republic, Middle East, South Africa and Korea.

Other deals sealed in Cannes include the 2005 Berlin competition film The Sun by the Russian Alexander Sokurov sold to Artificial Eye for the UK and Medial for Greece. The film was also sold to Latin America (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile), and Japan.

Daniele Vicari’s L’orizzonte degli eventi wich screened at the Critics Week was sold to Medial in Greece, the Australian film The Proposition starring Guy Pearce was sold to Russia, Saul Metzstein’s comedy Guy X was sold to Middle East and Dominic Savage’s Love + Hate which premiered at the Panorama Section in Berlin 2005, was sold to Italy (Italian International Film) and India (WEG).
