Best Shorts & Docs in Reykjavik

The fourth Reykjavik Shorts & Docs Film Festival will take place from May 25-29 at the Tjarnarbio Cinema in the Icelandic capital. Organised by the Icelandic Filmmakers Association, the festival consists of new Icelandic documentaries and short films as well as highlights of the best works in these fields from the Nordic region as well as from 11 countries outside the region.

Asthildur Kjartansdóttir’s documentary The Impossibility of Filming Róska will be the opening film of the festival.
Among the films screening in Reykjavik is Grímur Hákonarson’s short film Slavek The Shit just shown as part of the Cinefondation official selection in Cannes. The Icelandic/Czech/Estonia co-production is a love story taking place in a public toilet in the centre of Prague.

The festival supported by Reykjavik City, the Icelandic Film Centre, the Nordic Film & TV Fund and local sponsors, will also organsise a technical seminar on HDV and short filmmaking, as well as a meeting with representatives from Filmkontakt Nord, a promotional organisation dedicated to short films and documentaries from the Nordic region.
