Péter Bacsó: return of a legend

by

On the 10th of May, the famous Hungarian director Péter Bacsó returned to the set, to begin his new feature The Lumnitzer sisters (A Lumnitzer novirek). Four years after his last work Smouldering cigarette, the 77 year old veteran chose this time to work in comic vein, adapting his own novel, the story of two food critics who publish their venomous commentaries under the pseudonym "The Lumnitzer sisters". Irritated by their attacks, Hungarian restaurant owners hire a young woman (played by Barbara Hegyi) to unmask the two journalists, played by Rsbert Alfvldi and Piter Rudolf. Also among the cast are Miklss Benedek, Dorottya Udvaros and Laszls Szacsvay, for a shoot that will continue throughout the month of June.

The filmmaker was also honoured in 1967 at San Sebastian for Summer on the Hill and in 1971 at Locarno for Present Indicative.
