Pelicanman goes to the Benelux

Liisa Helminen’s family film Pelicanman has been sold by NonStop Sales to A-Film for theatrical distribution in the Benelux where it will be released next November.
The Finnish-Swedish co-production between Lumifilm Oy and Migma Film is still playing in Finnish cinemas after a six months run and holds firm among the top 20.
A Festival favourite, Pelicanman won a Special Mention at Kristianstad International Children’s Film Festival (Sweden) last April and continues its festivals tour over the summer with Amsterdam, Munich, Sheffield, Poznan and Zlin in Europe.

The Finnish production company Lumifilm earlier produced the animation series Tootletubs & Jyro in 2000-2001 and Urpo & Turpo in 1996-1997 as well as the documentary films about the creator of the moomintroll character Tove Jansson and her companion Tuulikki Pietilä, Tove And Tooti in Europe (2004) and Haru, The Island of the Solitary (1998).
Pelicanman was supported by the Finnish Film Foundation, Nordic Film & TV Fund, the Swedish Film Institute, Eurimages, Yle TV2 and FST as well as the Icelandic TV RUV, the Finnish and Swedish Cultural Foundations, Finland’s National Council for Cinema and the Media Plus programme of the European Union.
