by

Ich bin die Andere ('I am the other') by Margarethe con Trotta, has just started shooting in Casablanca. This schizophrenic melodrama written by Peter Märthesheimer and Pea Fröhlich (Lola, Veronika Voss), script-writers for Fassbinder, depicts what happens to a young engineer (August Diehl) after his one-night-stand with the mysterious Carlotta (Katja Riemann), as he is gradually caught up in a dangerous game of deception which threatens his life. The crew, which also includes the actors Armin Mueller-Stahl, Barbara Auer and Karin Dor, will then move, until August, to Starnberg and Hessen.

Ich bin die Andere, produced by Markus Zimmer for the Munich-based company Clasart, received 700,000 euros from the Bavaria Film and TV Fund (FFF Bayern), and was supported by the FFA and HessenInvest. Concorde will release the film in Germany next year.

For international sales, Margarethe von Trotta renews her collaboration with the French company Studio Canal, who handled Rosenstraße, a huge international success that earned Katja Riemann the prize of Best Actress in 2003 at Venice. Riemann could hardly resist being directed once more by von Trotta.
