Six European films top the bill

With Avec Thomas Vinterberg, Pawel Pawlikowki and Antony Cordier heading the list, six European films come out today, facing competition from five American movies.

d’Anthony Cordier, produced by Why Not Productions is distributed by Bac Distribution with 80 prints. Sold internationally by Wild Bunch and selected for the recent Directors Fortnight, this first feature had a budget of 1,92 million including an Advance on Receipts of 420 000 euros from the National Film Centre (CNC), a pre-sale from Canal + and from TPS, plus support from the Centre For the Regions of 145 000 euros.
Also on the bill, Orlando Vargas by Juan Pittaluga is released with 9 prints delivered by Gémini Films, also producer of this first feature. Completing the French line-up is Le démon de midi by Marie-Pascale Osterrieth, produced by Pathé Renn distributed with 50 prints by Pathé Distribution.

, best British film of the year by the filmmaker of Polish origin Pawel Pawlikowki, distributed by TFM Distribution with 60 prints (and which will feature in a Focus On in Cineuropa in the coming days, it’s worth noting Dear Wendy by Thomas Vinterberg. This European co-production brings together the Danes Lucky Punch (46 %), the Germans Pain Unlimited (20 %), the French Slot Machine / Liberator 2 (20 %) and the British Dear Wendy Ltd (14 %) and is distributed by Les Films du Losange with 50 prints. Pre-bought by Canal +, the film also benefited from aid worth 350 000 euros from Arte, France Cinema and selective distribution aid within the framework of the Media Programme. Finally, French screens welcome today the documentary by German German Kral, Musica Cubana, la nouvelle génération, a Pyramide distribution with 70 prints.
