Dygra and Appia revisit Shakespeare

It is one of the most eagerly awaited animation films of the year in Spain, which brings back to the big screen the authors of El Bosque Encantado, the first 3D animation feature film produced in Spain and also the Goya winner for best animation film in 2002. opens today in more than 180 Spanish theatres (distributed by Buena Vista International) whereas the Portuguese release in due on July 21st; LNK distributes.
The film, which was supported by Eurimages, is a Dygra Film (La Coruña – Spain) production with Appia Filmes (Portugal). The two production companies aim to create in Galicia and the north of Portugal two areas that will be recognised internationally for animation-audiovisual production.
Paying an aesthetic tribute to artists such as Gaudí and Dalí, Midsummer Dream is an ambitious 8 million euros production directed by Manolo Gómez and Angél de la Cruz, who lead, for more than three years, a team of 400, among them IT experts, designers and technicians, joining actors Gabino Diego, Emma Penella and Gemma Cuervo who lent their voices to the characters based on Shakespeare’s mythical play. Lumina Films, responsible for the international sales, succeded in selling the film to over 60 territories.

Founded in 1987, Dygra Films is venturing for the first time into the production of a live action film, Los muertos van deprisa, while still preparing El Espiritu del Bosque, the follow up to El Espíritu Encantado , which is set to premiere in 2006.
