Directors in the cast for the Cinémathèque

by

The Council of Administration for the Cinémathèque Française began to pick up the pace with the election of the filmmaker Jean-Paul Rappeneau as administrator last Tuesday, fora five year stint. He joins his colleagues Claude Berri(president), Patrice Chéreau (elected vice-president on the 1111th of April), Alain Corneau, Olivier Assayas, Jacques Fieschi and also Nicole Garcia. Worth noting too among the 24 members of the council the presence of Margaret Menegoz who is in charge of Unifrance and of Martine Offroy (vice-president).
With Serge Toubiana in the post of director general, the Cinémathèque has created a top class team to aid the metamorphosis of the institution created in 1936 by Henri Langlois. Since the end of February, the Cinémathèque has, in effect, left the Palais de Chaillot and the theatre at Grands Boulevards, migrating towards Bercy and the former American Center built by the architect Frank Gehry. On the 2828th of September, the public opening will allow film-lovers access to four preview theatres, a library-media-tech, a bookshop, a bar-restaurant, exhibition spaces and a Film Library (BiFi) new-look.
