PRODUCTION France

Wrap for Du jour au lendemain

by

Shooting finished at the end of last week in the Paris region for the French-Belgian co-production, Du jour au lendemain, the fifth feature film from Philippe Le Guay. Following the success of his previous work Le coût de la vie (1,1 million admissions in France in 2003), the filmmaker has chosen once more the phenomenal Benoît Poelvoorde to head his cast, joined by Constance Dollé, Anne Consigny and Rufus. For the screenplay, Philippe Le Guay worked once more, after Trois huit (2001) with the rising writer Olivier Dazat, who worked also recently on, among others, Himalaya - l'enfance d'un chef, Podium and Quatre étoiles by Christian Vincent (which has just gone into post-production).

Du jour au lendemain retraces the misadventures of a man confronted with unexpected happiness. François (Benoît Poelvoorde) was going through a living Hell, with a dog barking all night long, making sleep impossible, his coffee-machine exploded, it rained, his boss threatened to fire him daily, and his wife (Anne Consigny) refused divorce even though they’ve been separated for a year. Then, all of a sudden, things change, miraculously: the dog shuts up, the coffee is delicious, the sun shines, his boss apologies. What’s going on? François believes that there is some sort of conspiracy at work to bring him all this happiness and he’s soon anxious and wants to shake it off. But in vain...

Produced by Philippe Rousselet for Les Films de la Suane, Du jour au lendemain had a budget of 8,75 million euros including co-production finance from Studio Canal (also handling international sales) and the Belgian company K2 Productions (Dominique Janne), plus support from TF1 Films Production. It will be distributed in Belgium by Belga Film and in France by Mars Distribution, with a release expected in Spring 2006.
