Jim Sheridan sets eye on Irish mafia

by

The Irish director of My Left Foot and In The Name Of The Father is to explore the world of Irish organised crime in New York in his upcoming film Emerald City. The project will be set in the notorious Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood of the Big Apple, an area that Jim Sheridan is actually very fond of as he personally lived there when he moved to New York in the 1980s, and decided –jokingly– to call his Dublin-based production company Hell’s Kitchen as a memory of those times.

Based on true events, the script for Emerald Cityis written by former District Attorney Lukas Reiter who made a name for himself writing the US TV shows The Practise and Boston Legal.
Sheridan will first finish his music film with rap singer Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson Get Rich or Die Tryin’, the story of an inner city drug dealer who turns away from crime to pursue his passion for rap music, to be released next November by Paramount in the US.
