Locarno : french production on the bill

No less than 10 features, produced or co- produced in France are in the programme for the 58th Locarno Film Festival (from 3rd to 13th August). Heading the bill are four films selected for the international competition. Among them are the French-Japanese co-production (Comme des Cinémas - Bitters End) Un couple parfait by Nobuhiro Suwa with Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi and Bruno Todeschini as well as the French-Lebanese A Perfect day by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige (Abbout Productions - Mille et une production). Equally in line for the Golden Leopard is the 100 % French production Riviera by Anne Villacèque (production Agat Films & Cie, co-production Nathan Production and Arte France Cinéma) which is sold internationally by Celluloïd Dreams, and the French-German-Luxembourg co-production Fratricide by Ylmaz Arslan (Ylmaz Arslan Filmproduktion GmbH, Tarantula Luxembourg and its subsidiary company in France), a film sold by Wild Bunch.

As for screenings on the Piazza Grande, worth noting the world premiere for Zaïna, cavalière de l'Atlas by Bourlem Guerdjou, interpreted by Sami Bouajila, Simon Abkarian and Aziza Nadir. This French co-production (80 %) - Germany (20 %) with Rezo Productions and Prokino had a budget of 5,33 millions euros including 800 000 euros from France 3 Cinéma, pre-sales from Canal + et TPS, as well as 225.000 euros of aid from the co-production mini-treaty between France and Germany. The film will be distributed in France on the 9th of November and was sold in Europe by Rezo for Switzerland (JMH Distribution), Greece (Odeon S.A.), Belgium (Cinéart-Cinélibre) and Eastern Europe except Russia (Pyrine). Prokino will handle the German release. Elsewhere, for the second consecutive year, Locarno welcomes directors from the Cinéfondation of Cannes and the market Industry Office will witness the first participation by the company Wide Management who will join faithful visitors to the Swiss event such as MK2 , Océan Films, Rezo Films, Diaphana Distribution, Ad Vitamet Arte.
