The actors behind the camera

by

Andrzej Seweryn (Indochine and Schindler's List ), the Polish actor member of the Comédie Française, will shortly shoot a film on the darker side of the priesthood. Amen Seweryn (provisional title) will portray a cleric suffering from Aids.

After performing the role of cardinal Stefan Wyszyñski in Teresa Kolarczyk 's Prymas, for which he received an Award at the Polish Film Festival (Gdynia 2000), Andrzej Seweryn decided to draw the portrait of a committed priest who works close to young drug addicts and lives in complete isolation when knows he is an HIV carrier.
The director wanted to tackle the complex truth of priests' lives, their faith, temptations and doubts. According to the producer Miros³aw S³owiñski (Quo vadis by Jerzy Kawalerowicz), this difficult and controversial topic will enable the public to reflect deeply, especially thanks to Maciej Strzembosz and Jolanta Hartwig-Sosnowska's script. Jan A.P. Kaczmarek (Oscar winner for the soundtrack of Finding Neverland, in 2005) will compose the film soundtrack and Dorota Roquelo (Mój Nikifor by Krzysztof Krauze) will make the costumes.
