Quality control in film

by

The Norwegian Film House in Oslo is hosting today and tomorrow a seminar organised by the Norwegian Film Fund (NFF) focusing on ‘Quality in feature films’.

Top local producers such as Synnøve Hørsdal (Maipo Film), John Jacobsen (Filmkameratene), Jørgen Storm Rosenberg (Tordenfilm) and Turid Oversveen (4 ½) will discuss the ‘cost of quality’ while their Swedish counterpart Lars Jönsson (Memfis Film), successful producer of Lukas Moodysson films amongst others, will give his views on ‘quality as a business idea’.
The Swedish filmmakers Suzanne Osten and Daniel Lind Lagerlöf (whose thriller Carambole is currently no3 at the Swedish box office) and the Norwegian Amanda award winner Erik Poppe (Hawaii, Oslo [+see also:

Ahead of the seminar, Stein Slyngstad, Head of the NFF told the daily news ‘Festivalavisa’ published during last week’s Haugesund Film Festival what quality films are for him: "Quality films are those that touch you as a human being, give you a little extra baggage in life…and make you stop and think."
For him, to improve the quality of Norwegian films, the NFF should higher its goals, not be afraid to take risks. It should not bet only on safe winners, or focus on safe investment.
