Barcelona will host, during the month of October, the shoot for La Educación de las Hadas, the new film by José Luis Cuerda, who returns after 6 years, when he made La lengua de las mariposas.
Presented last week within the framework of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, the casting of the director's new project brings together Argentinean actor Ricardo Darín (El Aura [+see also:

film profile]) and French actress Irene Jacob (Three Colours: Red), alongside beginner Víctor Valdivia, chosen from 250 candidates. Based on a novel by Didier van Cauwelaert, the film tells the story of an inventor of toys (Darín), who has just been dumped by his wife, Ingrid (Jacob). Ingrid's son, Raúl, decides to find a solution to save their marriage, a solution which seems to involve the education of a fairy. But the fairy in question is a supermarket cashier, who is supposed to make all of young Raúl's dreams come true.
La Educación de las Hadas, shooting for 9 weeks in several locations in Barcelona, is produced by Tornasol Films (Spain), Messidor Films (Spain) and Finales Felices (Spain), in association with Lazennec & Associes (France), Madragoa Filmes (Portugal) and Pol-ka Producciones (Argentina).
