by Rumanian filmmaker Cristi Puiu was victorious on Saturday in the feature competition of the 7th edition of the Cinessonne European film festival. Sold internationally by the French company The Co-production Office, the film will be distributed in France on the 4th January 2006 by Bac Films. The jury also attributed a special prize this year to Crash test dummies from Austrian Jörg Kalt which also picked up the female acting award for the performance by Katrin Resetarits. Still on acting, the jury also honoured Fiona Gordon, protagonist of the Belgian film Iceberg [+see also:

Screened at the last San Sebastian festival in the section "Zabaltegi – New Directors" (lire le compte-rendu), Iceberg was produced by Courage Mon Amour Films, RTBF and FAG prod. Completing the prize list: the Public Prize was picked up by Sauf le respect que je vous dois by Fabienne Godet. Interpreted by Olivier Gourmet, Dominique Blanc, Marion Cotillard and Julie Depardieu, the film had a budget of 1,99 million euros including 420 000 euros of Advance On Receipts from the National Film Centre (CNC). Produced by Le Bureau Films, it will be distributed in France from the 11th January 2006 by Haut et Court. Finally, Portugal was also honoured thanks to Margarida Cardoso which won the Emergence Price for Le rivage des murmures, a production from Filmes do Tejo, co-produced by Frenchman Films d'Après-midi with aid from the Germans at ZDF ARTE and sold internationally by Insomnia World Sales.
