Malmros and Madsen behind the camera

Nils Malmros has started filming on Monday a follow-up to his 1981 film The Tree of Knowledge (t.o.Kundskabens Træ) which screened at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard in 1982 and is considered by many as a masterpiece.
Kærestesorger written as usual with long-time collaborator John Mogensen, will be one of the most expensive feature films ever produced in Denmark with a DKK27m budget. The film follows a handful of youngsters during their three years at high school Viborg Katedrale with all that includes, love, friendship, jealousy and much more. The three years will actually be filmed in real time with the camera witnessing the changing physiognomies of the lead actors Thomas Ernst (seen on the Hungarian film Dealer by Benedek Fliegauf), Simone Nielsen, Ida Dwinger (Reconstruction) and Noels Skousen (Allegro [+see also:

The film produced by Thomas Heinesen for Nordisk Film was just awarded DKK 10m from the Danish Film Institute (DFI). Delivery date is set for October 31, 2008

The second film supported by the DFI (DKK 5,74m) and starting shooting today is Ole Christian Madsen’s fourth feature film Prague (t.o.Prag) co-written with prolific scriptwriter Kim Fupz Aakeson. Madsen will direct his life partner Stine Stengade –met on his successful film Kira’s Reason: A Love Story and popular actor Mads Mikkelsen. Also joining the cast is Czech actor Borivoj Navratil. It’s the story of Christoffer and Maja who go Prague to bring back the body of his father who recently passed away. As Christoffer learns more about his father’s life, he and Maja are going through a difficult patch. The film is produced by Morten Kaufmann for Nimbus Film and will be ready in late 2006.
