Pelicanman racks awards

by

Liisa Helminen's family film Pelicanman continues to conquer the hearts of children around the world. After Chicago International Children's Film Festival – the largest festival of films for children in North America – early November where the film won the Best of the Fest Audience Award, Pelicanman just received one of the two top awards at the London Children's Film Festival which ended on November 20.

The First Light Young Jury Film Prize was given by a jury made up of 7-11 years old who chose the film from eight international candidates. The Finnish/Swedish co-production between Hanna Hemilä's Lumifilm and Anita Oxburgh's Migma Film has been sold to theatrical and TV distribution in over 15 territories by NonStop Sales, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, several East European countries and Japan. Released by Buena Vista late December, the film has sold over 113,500 tickets in Finland.
The next festival appointments for Pelicanman include the Moscow International Film festival for Children and Youth (20-27. 12. 05) where it will screen in competition.
