Directed by Giorgio Gosetti together with Emanuela Cascia and Marina Fabbri, the festival offers tens films in competition and another four out of competition. As always, cinema and literature exist side by side at Courmayeur – even the international film jury is presided over by a bestselling thriller writer Jeffery Deaver. Other participating authors include George Pelecanos; Barry Gifford, the man who inspired David Lynch; the new queen of the esoteric mystery, Kate Mosse; UK writer-screenwriters Nicholas Evans (The Horse Whisperer ) and Mark Mills (The Lost Son); Canadian rebel Susan Musgrave; the incendiary Chris Cleave and Chilean Roberto Ampuero. Not to mention the Italians: Gianni Farinetti, Margherita Oggero, Gianni Perissinotto, Giancarlo De Cataldo, Marcello Fois, Carlo Lucarelli and Davide “Subsonica” Di Leo.

As part of “Three Days on Noir Power,” writers, editors and critics will discuss a genre so popular that is has become a part of the social fabric. A genuine “festival within a festival,” the Mini Noir, in its second edition, features events for the very young (7 to 14 years old): screenings, characters, workshops, interactive games, cartoons, exhibitions of graphics projects and even a small fencing stage. The festival will also present a first showing of some images from Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit .
