Portrait of the famous Brazilian singer, this documentary by Georges Gachot has already been screened this year at numerous international events such the audiovisual Festival at Biarritz (Fipa), Festival real Visions at Nyon, the Locarno film Festival, the Leipzig documentary and animation Festival, the Vancouver film Festival and also the international cinema Mostra at São Paulo.
Maker of many documentaries about the world of classical music, portraits of composers and performers shot primarily for TV, Georges Gachot has produced his own films since 1996 – with Martha Argerich, conversation nocturn, which won the Prix Italia in 2002. The filmmaker also became interested in Cambodia (Bach à la Pagode, 1997) and the humanitarian work of paediatrician and cellist Beat Richner (Blut oder Geld / L'argent ou le sang – Quelle médecine pour les pays pauvres ?, 2004), before taking on for the first time a non-classical musical subject with Maria Bethânia, music and perfume.
