Mother of Mine shortlisted by US Press Academy

The International Press Academy (IPA), one of the largest entertainment media associations of accredited domestic and foreign journalists in the US, has chosen Klaus Härö’s Mother of Mine as one of the six Foreign film nominees running for a Satellite Award to be awarded on December 17 in Los Angeles.
Mother of Mine which is also Finland’s official nominee for the Foreign Language Oscar in 2006, will compete against the Israeli Walk on Water, the French Lila Says, the Iranian Turtles Can Fly, the Chinese 2046 and the Mexican Innocent Voices.
Sold internationally by Nordisk Film Sales, the Matila & Röhr Production has not yet found a US distributor but will be released in Portugal, Spain, China, India, Brazil, Columbia and Mexico after Finland (released on 30 September) and Sweden (4 November).

Among the other European films or European co-productions that have been nominated by the IPA in the 36 categories for Film and Television are The Constant Gardener [+see also:

, selected in three categories and represented in the US by Focus Feature, Mrs Henderson Presents promoted by TWC Distribution with Dame Judi Dench running for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. She will compete against her UK counterpart Keira Knightley selected for her performance in Universal’s Pride & Prejudice.
Cillian Murphy will try to win a statuette for Best actor (Comedy or Musical) in Breakfast On Pluto [+see also:

to be released in the US by Sony Pictures Classics, and the French March Of The Penguins [+see also:

will run for Best Documentary with Warner Bros’ solid support.
