by Michele Placido will be screened in competition at the 56th edition of the Berlin Film Festival (February 9-19), while Roberto Benigni will present The Tiger and the Snow [+see also:

out of competition. Speaking with Cineuropa, producer Riccardo Tozzi (Cattleya) said, "We’re very happy for Crime Novel [and] believe it can have an international run". Sold by TF1 International, Crime Novel will be released in France this March.

The Italian films in the Panorama section are Derecho de familia by Daniel Burman, co-produced by Amedeo Pagani, and La guerra dei fiori rossi, co-produced by Downtown Pictures , Istituto Luce and RAI Cinema. Davide Pepe’s Little Boy will be competing in the Panorama short films section and the independent Forum section will include the documentaries Babooska by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel (an Austria/Italy co-production) and Inatteso by Domenico Distillo, produced by the National Film School.
