Glass Tiger 2 : the return of Péter Rudolf

by

Budapest Film has released in the Magyar theatres, with around 35 prints, the much awaited follow-up to the very successful Glass Tiger (Üvegtigris) written in 2001 by Péter Rudolf and Iván Kapitány. This time, the former takes the reins of direction from a screenplay co-written with Gábor Olivér Buss, and also plays one of the six principal roles, that of Lali who has a sandwich stall (called Glass Tiger) by the road-side. Also new in the cast are Gábor Reviczky, Imre Csuja, Sándor Gáspár, József Szarvas and Lajos Ottó Horváth. Released in autumn 2001, the first part of Glass Tiger attracted more than 130 000 spectators (for reference the best Hungarian film of 2004 registered 450 000 admissions), which persuaded Filmpartners production to get involved in the follow-up with a budget of 800 000 euros. A great chance for fans to rediscover the six likeable protagonists: Lali admirer of America, Gaben car-thief , Fox the petty crook, Sanyi homeless with a simple soul, Coco obsessed with money and Slimmy the saxophonist.
