EFP launches Passions and Promises in Rotterdam

Nine directors from seven European countries have been selected by the European Film Promotion (EFP) to be part of the initiative Passions and Promises at the 35th Rotterdam International Film Festival. Scheduled for the January 30-31 at the Kleine Zaal in the Schouwburg, the event consists of two talkshows, open both to film professionals and to the general public, in which the nine promises of European filmmaking will be sharing their passion for the 7th art.

The forthcoming event will be enhanced by clips from the directors' films, which screen in the Festival's sections “VPRO Tiger Awards Competition” and sidebar selection “Sturm und Drang”. Extracts from other features which are said to have been an influence in the directors' choice to enter the world of cinema will also be presented.
Cineuropa is pleased to be associated with this new EFP initiative and will publish by the end of January exclusive interviews with the selected filmmakers.

This year’s Passions & Promises directors are:

Josh Appignanesi (United Kingdom) - Song of Songs;
Thomas Clay (United Kingdom) - The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael;
Franck Guérin (France) - A Summer Day (Un jour d'été);
Michael Hofmann (Germany) - Eden;
Isaki Lacuesta (Spain) - The Legend of Time (La leyenda del tiempo);
David Lammers (The Netherlands) - Northern Light (Langer Licht);
Guillaume Malandrin (Belgium) - I Don’t Care if Tomorrow Never Comes (Ça m'est égal si demain n'arrive pas);
Fien Troch (Belgium) - Someone Else’s Happiness (Een Ander Zijn Geluk);
Roland Vranik (Hungary) - Black Brush
