2006 Holland Film Catalogue ready for festival season

by

A new year in film also means a new Holland Film Catalogue – and 2006 is not an exception. Published by Holland Film, the promotional agency of Dutch cinema, the 2006 Holland Film Catalogue is the indispensable 88-page thick guide to recently wrapped and upcoming films from the Low Lands. The bilingual French-English publication offers an overview of almost a hundred titles with synopses, credits, technical and sales information. Entries range from feature length to short films and animation in both the fiction and non-fiction genres. Highly anticipated projects such as the latest works of Paul Verhoeven, Peter Greenaway and Alex van Warmerdam sit brotherly next to relatively unknown (but not less deserving) fare such as the Frisian language film Sportsman of the Century from rookie director Mischa Alexander.

Marlies Baltus of Holland Film, who compiles the catalogue every year, told Cineuropa: “What we hope to achieve with our annual catalogue is that as many as possible film professionals (including festival programmers, international press, distributors and sales agents) will be alerted to what Dutch films have recently been completed or will be completed soon, so that they may use this information for their own benefit as well as the benefit of Dutch cinema in general. Last year’s output has been phenomenal and the number of Dutch films presented abroad has again gone up, at least in part due to the visibility created by the catalogue.”

The catalogue is available from Holland Film as a pdf file on their website.
