A united front by producers against the global licence

by

30 film producers associations , from 20 European countries has got together to write to the President of the French, the Prime Minister and the ministers and deputies concerned to protest against the concept of the global licence with regard to broadcast of works on the Internet. These producers see a danger of unacceptable expropriation of their rights and underline that the global licence will be in contradiction of the international treaties signed by France, a country at the forefront of the battle for cultural diversity and who must not give in to the demagogic temptation of the acceptance of illegal downloading. The signatories affirm however their support for the notion of a massive educational campaign aimed at internet users who download illegally, before applying sanctions.
