Active in production, exhibition and film distribution with ColumbiaTriStar, as well as video publishing and international sales, this week Gaumont made public its excellent results for 2005. They showed a significant increase in turnover (€100.2m compared to €84.9m in 2004) despite a slight decrease in net results, down to €7.2m from €9.2m last year.

On the other hand, the anticipated flop of The Trail by Eric Valli (only 71,000 admissions in the first week of February 2006) resulted in the provision of a net loss of €8.4m.

As for exhibition, the European leader Europalaces, which includes the Pathé and Gaumont cinemas (730 screens in France, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland), has kept up its good performance despite a fall in attendance in Europe last year. Turnover was €381.2m compared to €407.8 in 2004.

Gaumont looks set to continue its solid performance in 2006, a year that has got off to a good start with the excellent box office results for You Are So Beautiful [+see also:
