The young footballers of The Wild Soccer Bunch 3, a children’s film by Joachim Masannek, released on March 2 by Buena Vista, continues to seduce German cinemagoers.

This third episode of the series, produced by Ewa Karlstrom and Andreas Ulmke-Smeaton for the Munich company SamFilm, has been top of the local box-office since its release, with more than 639,000 admissions in the first week, over 400,000 in the second and 230,000 over the weekend. This time, the young athletes in early retirement are back on the job to take on their biggest enemy, tough girls’ team The Beastly Beasts.

The film is taking on its own adversaries, in the shape of Brokeback Mountain (185,000 admissions over the weekend) and The Pink Panther (175,000), both in their second week.

film profile] came straight in at number six in the German box office, with 70,000 admissions. Produced by Marcus Zimmer (Clasart Film), the film was released by Concorde on March 16 and reconstructs a Chernobyl-like tragedy in a German province.
