Cinesa buys AMC multiplexes

Exhibition group Cinesa/UCI, which belongs to UK investment group Terra Firma, this week concluded the acquisition of five AMC multiplexes in Spain (Madrid, Barcelona and Mallorca) and Portugal (Gaia), adding another 106 screens to its already impressive exhibition network.

With this business - whose totals have not been announced - Cinesa/UCI consolidates its leading position in the Spanish market, controlling a total of 402 screens, and augments its position in the Portuguese market with a total of 34 screens. Last year, the company already bought the Warner Lusomundo cinemas, which meant the control of 119 screens and 12 multiplexes.
